The Worldbuilding Is Excellent

When most people think of hack-and-slash games, they picture dark fantasy settings filled with filthy, disturbing maps and grotesque enemies. Last Epoch, however, takes a refreshing approach. Its vibrant, nature-filled environments and a bestiary composed largely of animals and elemental or mechanical creatures create a much more approachable and enjoyable atmosphere.

In many ARPGs, you’re constantly fighting in grim, depressing worlds, often soaked in blood and weird fluids from monstrous enemies—which, frankly, can feel off-putting. But Last Epoch manages to include gore without going overboard on the gross factor. The focus on less disturbing enemies makes the game much more accessible, especially for players like me who are new to the genre.

What this means is significant: Last Epoch isn’t just appealing to the hardcore ARPG audience—it’s also opening the door to new players. That broader appeal could translate into a growing player base, a stronger community, and ultimately increased revenue for the developers. It’s a smart and welcome design choice that deserves recognition.

I absolutely agree. I like the design of this game. And there are enough gloomy landscapes in life.
