The silence is deafening. Saying nothing speaks louder than saying "We are aware of the exploits and are taking measures to curb the inflation"

Hoards of MG players have already quit since their gear has become unachievable. More will quit today as they login and see the items they were saving up have increased by 10,000%.

It is extremely important that EHG responds to this dupe in a way that both punishes those who used the dupe, and also equalizes the economy.

Honestly, I don’t know how they can equalize the economy. But luckily that is not my job to figure out.

Perhaps they should offer a one time “Faction Swap”. I would gladly switch from MG to CoF if my rank transferred over. But honestly, I will just quit this league if they do nothing (which is exactly what they did last league)

Dupes have effected alpha, every beta, 1.0 and 1.1. Currently there is a 100% history of dupes being included in each new launch. I guess it’s MG believers for being stupid enough to think this league would be any different.

At this point duping is a feature.

Reddit moderators have also started locking any posts about the gold dupe. I expect EHG will start doing the same here. Gotta control the narrative somehow eh?

Pro tip for 1.2 - Save all of your 0LP unique items until the gold dupe hits. Then you can sell them for HUGE profit and actually participate in the MG economy.

At this point there is a greater chance of 1.2 having a gold dupe compared to it not having a gold dupe. Prepare accordingly.

I messaged a mod & they said it’d been fixed as far as they were aware.

Yes, offline saves with plain text save files do tend to have that effect.

People keep forgetting that this sort of thing also happened lots of times in PoE. And in D2. And in D3. And probably happens in D4.

any examples of something as big and bad happened in POE? Im playing it for 7 years and cant remember anything even remotely comparable.

Really? Even last year:

Forced them to hotfix it 1 day after league start:

And it’s far from being an isolated incident. In fact, PoE dupes/exploits are often abused for several leagues by a very small number of people until they are made known to the general public and then they are hotfixed.

Nothing is fixed untill they remove golds from exploits, they say " we dont punish sellers of items " so they holding billions in accounts. thats not fair for legit players. Yesterday i was saving for Ring of red (they are 15mil each) today i got 38mil from solds and i was happy for moment then i go to bazaar and saw red ring prices are 1,5b lol (now 140mil) still to expensive. Golds from exploit is still ingame, so bug is still here nothing is fixed for me. I wish i can switch to CoF with my progress.

The problem is that most of the times, the ones that had things bought (and did nothing else, maybe they weren’t even playing in the weekend) are also legit players.

many player sold (rare uniques) for 1,5b so u say milking exploit is legal?

well It was the ingame bug which caused unintended interaction, and it barrely affected economy. In current case in LE this is ppl breaking the game intentionally ruining economy entirely.

look at this, guy posted this to discord few mins ago
250mil?

someone still buying overpriced items, probly he is seller of items (to exploiters) billions of gold entered the game

I took my piece of this pie I guess

but the idols are kinda pricey even without bugs

There were lots of players that made thousands of divines this way before it was fixed.

And there was, for a long time, the dupe bug where you waited for a server to be about to crash/restart, you would throw all your stuff on the ground, your friend would pick it up and put on the stash. When the server restarted both had the items.

Then there was the time when you forced that by turning off your internet connection.

And there were lots of them, really. You don’t usually see them because GGG deletes the forum posts, but there are plenty around on reddit and other media over the years.

The difference is that PoE’s market is much bigger and the people that use these exploits don’t simply start buying every single mirror-cost thing in the market.

It could be trying to take advantage of it, yes. Or it could be someone that has no idea that anything happened, looked at the current prices and tried selling accordingly.

The point is that you have no way to know if they’re legit or not. So you either punish everyone, even the players that did nothing wrong, which will lead to bad feelings and leaving the game, or you don’t punish anyone (except for the actual exploiters) and close the exploit and wait for market to restore itself.

so they punish us with this economy? (legit players) i have to save weeks for one idol or rings?

I think devs could easilly check who is legit, and who isnt. If the person have a few billions of gold while played legit less than 30 hrs or so he’s either cheated or rmt’ed.
Thankfully auction house have sellings history so its easy to not ban ppl who got their gold by legitimate sales.

Well, yes & no. You could do some analysis on player gold & see if it moves in unexpected ways. If player A trades 1 gold to player B & player B receives 100,000,000 then that’ll be a dodgy transaction. Banks do stuff like this all the time, it is possible but it may not be quick or cheap (in terms of having expensive/skilled people to do it).

That’s not what I was talking about. I was talking about someone that logs on sunday, for example, and has no idea there is an exploit, goes to sell this cool item that just dropped. He tries to find out how much it costs and sees it being listed for millions or billions. So he lists it accordingly.
Exploiters then buy it as they’re buying everything.

Now, this player did nothing wrong. In fact, he might not even be aware there was anything going on.

Whatever they do, legit players will be punished. If they do nothing, market is inflated and hard to buy anything. If they reset the economy then players that had legit items for sale will be punished.

It’s what happens when people start making exploits public instead of warning devs/mods privately. There’s always a bunch of people that will try to abuse it before fix and crash the market.

Yes i agree but if we take this on problem on hand which side is heavy for you, users who sold items for billions or users who cannot make progress due to these problems? like u said inflation is crazy atm. Most of meta build items prices are almost 50x now, do you think I deserve this? i was saving two day for rings now they are 150-200mil each i cant even talk about my idols or my body armour lol. like OP said, they have to give us Faction change option without any condition for MG players, i dont wanna start from over, i dont wanna lose my one week progress

Same, im debating between rerolling as the least played class so I can afford some gear, or just stopping altogether

Thankfully there is an SSF mode and faction. These problems will always exist in every ARPG that has open trade. It plagues every single one and thankfully there is an alternative to it.
