When I hit level 70, I wanted to respec my char. It costed 120k and I only had 10k so I went to farm. Came back, while spending no points and to my surprise, when I collected 120k, the price bounced to 205k. Went back to farm, it’s 250k now. I’m at lv 74, with 4 unspent points. So how am I supposed to get the gold if the price increases non stop and who thought this was a good idea?
Basically, as you level, the price goes up. It feels unfair on your first character especially. After you’ve encountered this and are doing other characters, you tend to figure the trade off between waiting until you’re ready to jump into a build, or do it earlier and fumble through if necessary. It almost seems like it might be worthwhile to roll a new character, start in the mastery you want to end up in, and figure out whether you want to use this current character for a different build in its current mastery. EHG didn’t want to have mastery respecs and just changed their minds for this season. I suspect the rampup in price is related to them still wanting choices to matter.
I really don’t like how maxroll guides tell you to do a leveling spec to 70 and don’t warn people that changing specs needs quite a chunk of gold saved up. It’s easy enough to level up using each mastery, it feels lazy that they publish one leveling guide per class, rather than spec. (If you’re not using a guide, ignore this, I’m just ranting about maxroll build guides, which, while pretty enough, don’t look to be great for starting players.)
At level 74 you should be doing empowered monoliths, and you can make over $20k per echo that you do in empowered monoliths.
in the time it takes to farm 120k gold you can just make a new dude
Yeah, u were totally on point with your assumption. Unfortunately, others don’t see it this way, but for a new player this could be a very disheartening moment that could easily make them quit. It would be much better to keep it applied point-wise and not level-wise so that people can at least make up for it and not chase a running target.
Are you making this assumption for yourself? I jumped on monoliths after Act7 tree fight and I was at reign of dragons @lv74 0c. The only way I managed to catch up was @lv75 when it was 259k and I farmed gold maps that gave between 8k and 16k gold. Also if you were to do Empowered monolyths the price would jump even faster because of you levelling.
I’m not sure what you’re asking me.
He’s disagreeing with your assertion (that at lvl 74 you should be in empowered & getting 20k per mono) as that’s not his experience.
If that’s the case, well I ran some tests and have a correction:
Normal mono level 90 WITHOUT gold echo reward gave me about $3,500 per echo
100 corruption monos WITHOUT a gold echo reward gave me $6,000+ per echo
275 corruption mono with gold echo reward gave me $28,000
I think a 100C mono with gold reward chest for the echo would net closer to $20k not including all of the gold modifiers in the Weaver’s tree. So I didn’t get quite $20k but I think it’s possible to get close to that amount with 100 corruption at level 75ish, per echo.
Yes, but while you’re collecting gold in empowered monos, you’re leveling up. And at that point the increases start to add up very fast.
The best way to actually make gold for mastery respec in this situation is to drop in difficulty. Like doing the first couple monos and getting gold echoes from there. That way you can collect gold (and you’re supposedly farming fast cause everything is made of paper for you) and you won’t be leveling up.
I wasn’t sure if OP was talking about passive node respec or mastery respec, but I assumed passives because they mentioned not having spent any additional points in between checking the price originally, and returning at a higher level.
I’m sure there’s more efficient ways to farm gold than what I described, so your method makes sense to me.
I just wanted to reassure OP that gold is in fact easy to get - and that eventually you get to a point where you won’t even consider farming gold because you just get so much from playing, even in COF like me.
It was definitely mastery respec. Not only because it was 120k (which no passive respec costs ever), but they said that after they leveled up it went to 250k.
My method only works for mastery respec because you want to avoid leveling up and massively increasing the cost again.
For regular gold collecting, just doing gold echoes at higher corruption is the best strategy (outside of MG).
Fair, I’ve only done a mastery respec once
Me too, and it was mostly a “How will I really feel about this after doing it?”. And I hated it and myself for doing it (but resisting temptation is hard when the game kinda wants you to do it).
