Ah damnit, fixed it… was having a discussion about differences of PoE and LE in another thread and my brain shorted
I am having the same experience. I have my PC stats on a secondary screen and I can watch the memory usage go up in real time while using the stash in Last Epoch. I shoot up from 9GB total system usage to maxing my 64GB capacity within a few minutes. As soon as the game closes, I am back to 9-11GB of system ram usage. This was not an issue before.
I hope they fix the problem as soon as possible.
Was very hyped about season 3 release, but without basic inventory management it becomes impossible to play.
Meanwhile in the list of known issues in their discord they got this:
“The hotkey for opening the in game cosmetics shop (default “k”) would not open it in Offline Mode.”
The most important one obviously.

it depends on how thier system is crashing.
if its crashing and shutting down and rebooting or you need to boot it back up cuz it crashed and shut down. thats should be a red flag that its your system thats the issue.
thats why i asked them by your system crashing what do you mean like CTD shutdown type of crash. the crash they are having will help figure out if its the game or there system
bro games dont cause you system to hard crash like that if thats actually whats happening. that in fact is 99% of the time a system issue can be drivers corrupted OS install ect.
you also didnt answer my question how exactly is your PC crashing. if its a shutdown type of crash that should be a red flag to you that something most likely is wrong with your system
im not saying its your system im saying depending on how your crashing it might be your system. which i asked you about?
LMAO if i had a dime for every damn time a gamer said other games run just fine id be rich. that litteraly mean jack shit. other games running fine doesnt mean another game wont give you signs something is wrong with your system

memory leaks in games can literally cause a hard reset/crash for a pc. if all the vram and system memory gets flooded it will restart the system, this is basic IT shit xD
I can run D4 and PoE 2 on high settings no issues, ran LE last season high settings no issues. Since this patch I get constant crashes all the time often loading into zones, I can see vram jump from 7-8gb to 20+ instantly on a load screen, there is clearly a memory leak that needs to be fixed as it is unplayable rn
Yeah, but think about this:
System usually doesn’t crash.
RAM leak well talked about for game.
PC crashes only with said game.
Hrmm… I think the overall performance of the PC is fine enough? Maybe it shows signs, who knows how old the system is? Doesn’t matter. My Old PC has thermal paste issues on the GPU, a half-broken CPU fan, a degradated PSU and a partial cache failure which surprisingly didn’t cause a complete shutdown but only under specific types of load a bluescreen.
So all is known.
I can still use 85% of programs out there and use it as a multimedia center or backup PC for some games when I play with people, runs fine, can break any second.

It’s caused by the game while other programs which have higher needs don’t… so kinda the task for the developers to fix their shit
Also it’s fairly common to have PC failures through faulty software coding. From simple freezes to OS shutdown, emergency shutdown or active ‘unaliving’ the PC permanently. Can all happen and does far far too often nowadays even.
thats what it exactly means if i had a dime every time somone said its your pc issue when its clearly game issue id be rich too you are just glazing over LE and think LE is perfectly optimised game without any issues if there are any issues then “its your pc bro” just becuz you played a game without bugs doesnt mean there arent any bugs in the game
Hot fix for the memory leak is now live. So much for the “it’s your computer” narrative. Thanks for the fix devs.
Stash memory leak seems to be fixed, yes. Which is good.
But the legacy stash itself is not. It still quite strongly lags when you move items. Sometimes even visually duplicates the item for a few moments until it catches up and syncs after a few seconds.
I am still having huge issues also and i dont think its from the stash at all.
I have the same trouble with the legacy stash since the 1.3…0.3 update. The memory leak is fixed but the stash itself is extremely slow and unresponsive. It makes gameplay fairly difficult still.
My guess is that the memory leak is still there, they just put some memory limit on it, because the behaviour is still the same. Lag comes from massive memory allocation and garbage collection. It’s just in chunks now. Gameplay wise the only change is that i haven’t seen crash to desktop since last patch… yet. Freezes for several seconds while moving item to the stash or out of it are still there.
yeah, this happens a bit now, after extended playtime and a lot of stash sorting but it was crashing my whole p.c before, so it’s definitely like 70-80% of the problem fixed, even if it is an impermanent solution.
There’s a lot of complaining on the forums, and it’s somewhat warranted, but at the core, we would not be criticizing or even communicating if we didn’t care about the game and think it was good, so, yeah, just want to re-state for a moment that players appreciate the game even with its flaws.
I’ve spent so many hours in the last few weeks really enjoying myself and interacting with the community, making a few new builds, just having fun, so Thanks EHG, and I’M glad you found a temporary solution to the memory leak which did make it a whole lot better for most legacy players, and didn’t actually effect season players at all to start with (only starts to become an issue at 100 + stash tabs it seems).
Yes I 100% agree with this sentiment. Its so strange to me that despite both Legacy and Cycle being functionally identical (with the exception of MG which pretty much no one uses), Cycle is treated as superior or more worth the devs attention. There is no reason to give a disclaimer at character creation to recommend cycle because it doesnt make a difference.
Its like the devs have artificially decided themselves which of the two is better, and are shaping the overall average player belief that cycle is better to play. In doing this it creates an ouroboros of favouritism that hurts all of us in Legacy.
I also personally believe, Last Epoch could benefit from straight up removing Cycles from the game. It would definitely be a hook for many ARPG players, and a refreshing divergence from the industry norm. It would also mean that the devs arent split when it comes to working on/fixing issues affecting Legacy, but not Cycle and vice versa, especially when considering the mediocre track record LE has when it comes to dev ability to fix issues, bug or balancing wise.
This comment seems pretty adversarial to EHG, I do genuinely love the game and the devs and hope it does well, but this is more of a stream of conciousness highlighting my biggest personal problem with the game.
Are there any of those though? Are there any bugs/issues that only affect cycle or legacy? I can imagine issues that only affect online v offline.
yeah there arent many. Though id argue the stash memory leak could be considered a problem much more prevalent in Legacy, simply due to the fact that it tended to be worse if you had more stash tabs.
But yeah, you are right, that may have just been a recency bias towards the stash memory leak issue and not a common occurence throughout the entire history of the game.
Yeah, that’s a fair point, stash memory issues are more likely to be more of an issue for legacy, i hadn’t thought of that.
To be fair, the bug exists for both legacy and season. It just affects legacy more because they tend to have more tabs.
The only actual difference between both and one that could introduce bugs in one and not the other (as it did the first time they made a reset) is the existence of remove-only tabs from previous cycles.
I think the only reason they recommend cycle rather than legacy is simply because a fresh start is how the game is balanced, rather than already having all the items, level 100 characters with 4LP legendaries, etc.
So they recommend starting over for a balanced, fresh approach.
I don’t think there are any other ulterior motives behind it, or favoring one over the other.
If anything Legacy is the favored one, since they get immediate access to all the new stuff without having to first level a character.

Actually thought of one other difference, but this one can cause issues with cycle and not legacy, which is leaderboards.
So we actually have one potential issue for each.
