Adding some sort of text either to the gate or the quest tracker to indicate you have to kill the spawning mobs to proceed would be helpful for first time players. There isn’t anything up to this point that requires you to kill non-boss enemies to proceed so it isn’t clear that you have to do that. My first time there I even thought I had killed everything and didn’t know what else to do. Kinda frustrating.
agree with this, there needs to be a new quest popup when you get close to the gate that says “defeat the horde” or something
