The hitbox on Detonating Arrow feels... small? Unforgiving?

I’ve been delving into a Marksman build for the first time, and it feels very (perhaps excessively?) easy to miss with Detonating Arrow. Not like I’m Hawkeye or anything but it feels like I miss more with DA than any other ranged skill I’ve played with so far.

For example, I’ve had two zombies walking directly at me, side by side colliding with each other, and (unintentionally) shot directly between them, hitting neither (they didn’t Dodge).

Could be the location of the hitbox on the mobs?

I have similar issues sometimes (with other bow attacks). For example - with those floating tentacled mobs… if you aim at them you miss, if you aim at where their “feet” should be, bullseye…

Detonating Arrow has that Node that improves targetting tho - I personally find its a must have node for DA… but thats just me.

I don’t know. I have bad aiming (slow reflexes and the hand a bit unstable) but usually I hit my target with Detonating Arrow. It may depend on the kind of mob.

Agree. You can have a hard time hitting the barrels between arena waves.

It seems that the arrows have a very small hit box.

I think I remember a statement of some dev saying this is because you should be able to precisely pick targets out of a bigger mob pack or aim at targets behind each other.

But sometimes it feels a bit weird.

You need to have your cursor “within” the base of the mob in order to hit it. For example, the following attack missed:

I’ll play around a bit but I think this might be what’s messing me up. I would expect that first shot to hit the mob.

Edit: Yep.
