Why don’t the developers consider switching to a user-friendly engine like Godot? And not long ago, I found out that many have already abandoned the sluggish Unity, where it’s impossible to properly optimize games?!

Because converting everything that is already done to a different engine would require them to work for a year or two exclusively on the conversion and do nothing else.
For better or for worse, they’re better off sticking to Unity currently. Maybe for LE2 they’ll choose a different engine or even make their own.
Because they started it in Unity and switching engines mid-way is a surefire way of killing the project entirely.
They could do it nonetheless if they were ahead, instead though EHG is FAR behind schedule with the content. They’re barely scraping by currently, even small things will wreck the studio at long last, not to speak of something major like a engine-switch.
