Nerfs, resets, wipes, skill balancing etc are all implied by the Early Access Beta status of any game… The whole point of playing a game in this state is to participate (usually constructively) in its developement.
Sure the 0.8.3 patch has made lots of changes that affect existing builds - lunge has probably affected every sentinel build in the game because the skill was without doubt OP - but hey… the fun is to rework things and see if its possible to design something else/adjust existing builds to still work…
and if it doesnt, then posting feedback on the changes and how they could possible be adjusted to work is the whole point…
I found that I ended up with a 2x tooltip DPS from my void warpath. Sounds like you need to change your gear based on the new skill tags and node changes.
I was going to be nice with my response until I read that part. You seem like a tainted WoW player who lives on the forums. Sorry, but lunge was FAR too strong and needed this nerf. It actually feels decent now.
so strong that it immediately give armor / damage / crit and there would be no scattering these buffs in different corners, so that the person himself could decide what kind of buff he needed, they just REMOVED ALL.
Lunge was a support skill. which he remained, only now there is no point in pumping talents in him, to the boss after running out of the AOE zone, he makes a normal jerk and without talents …
But they poured talents for summoners, as many as 2 branches, because there were so few of them in the game …
So your issue isn’t so much that lunge was nerfed, but that overall, you’re missing the lunge modifiers somewhere. I get it and thankfully there’s time to improve before the game goes to full release. Until then, there’s plenty to be happy, and some, to be unhappy about. Life goes on.
Lunge was intended to be a movement skill with some buffs for a sec after using it (like Teleport), but the strength of the buffs overshadowed it as a movement skill. They could have nerfed the crit buff but I’m not sure how much they would have needed to do that while giving people an honest option to take other nodes.
I’m playing a new warpath/lunge/javelin/forge strike forge guard right now from scratch. Played about a few hours, went to work, played a few more… Maybe 7, 8 hours at most, hit level 37 or so.
I’m still entirely specced for physical damage thus far.
I’m really liking the changes. The fluidity of gameplay is great, javelin works well against bosses, warpath is great for groups, lunge+javelin is a nice proc.
I enjoy that javelin and lunge both have interactions with judgement and forge strike: extra damage after use, instant cool down, etc.
I think you are probably trying to use your previous build… But the fact is, sentinel skills have been changed dramatically enough, I don’t think it’s feasible for high level characters. Changing gear, passives, and skill nodes can be a lot… Or even impossible, if you don’t have a wide selection of gear in your stash.
Best to just make a new character, and try out the new skills and interactions. You’ll likely have more fun that way.
