Almost 2 years ago, I put a suggestion to make a “dash” button or something else.
I remember well, some comments into my post “this is not Ades”, “I don’t wanna zooming all the map”, “you’re a zoomer”.
Now, with the evade implemented the game fell so smooth and I feel the game improved 100% of quality of life.

Personally, I think they did it the right way.
I don’t really care about evade, I even forget it exists most of the time, but they added an option where you can trade evade for switness and a few other goodies.
Yes, I think the idea of changing the evade for something else, was superb.
But I’m some bosses I felt more flexible and fluid play style
I would rather they removed the 1s input cooldown and remove dodge. Problem solved. A crutch solution to a problem that should not have existed
I decided to go full on in-your-face tanky Forge Guard this cycle. Didn’t touch FG at all last cycle despite loving my legacy characters.
I was skeptical at first but the one massive bonus I didn’t see. It’s made melee, true melee characters much, much more playable. Because now, when I’m face tanking but my health starts to dip from a ton of DoTs or something, I can hit that little space bar, tumble out and get right back to it. I don’t have to actively try to disengage and walk away as my health is disappearing like before. It really feels much more ‘melee.’ Welcome addition just for that alone.

For melee char, this evade button makes the difference.
