So I just combined my 2LP Mad Lad’s birch wand with an awesome 4 affix exalted wand… the result was a new exalted wand that was really bad for my build… spent all week farming to do this…and not only do I not improve my weapon… its gone…wtf?
I’ve heard about people having bad luck with which affixes get merged onto the unique, but I’ve never heard of the unique getting straight up yeeted like that. I wonder if this is another bug introduced with the patch.
What do you mean “its gone”? Did it completely disappear? When you put it in the Eternity Cache you press D to change times and open the cache back up to retrieve it, was it not there?
If you mean that it simply took the 2 affixes that you didn’t want, that’s the bad part of RNG. That’s why I only use Exalted items that have 4 affixes all of which I will accept, even though I actually want specific ones if I can. This means that even if I don’t get what I want, at least I get something that’s somewhat acceptable.
Is this the way I would “like” it to happen? No, I’d like to “know” I will get the affixes I want, but then if I could control every point then there’d be no point in farming for very long.

Are you saying you used the exalted wand you were actually using for the legendary craft?
And because not the correct 2 affixes were taken onto the unique item, the item is not of any worth for you?
That is the nature of the system, it is random and you need ot have either a backup item or only start crafting once you have an extra item to spare.
I am sorry, but I don’t understand this complaint. The nature of the system needs some rng and variance, that is why it is as exciting as it is, once you actually do get what you want.
This is a big learning opportunity for you. Next time you will be more careful with wasting good items.
Whenever I put stuff in that forge I try to put as many experimental stats on the purple item as possible, plus I upgrade the purple item to stats that I know I won’t mind if they combine.
