Anyone else noticed that the Tangled Laser ability from mobs (necrotic beam thingy) seems to be quite overtuned? It’s killed me a couple of times from 100-0 (I’m at 2k-ish health at the moment with max resistances) in like half a second and the deathlog shows the killing blow at 150-ish damage which means that thing is machine-gunning damage.
It seems like although they have tuned down the mob’s DoT damage (by 33% according to patch), they are still way more dangerous than mob’s hit damage.
Almost always got killed by DoT, and to be honest, a lot of these DoT skill mechanics or visual effects are just terrible, making them really hard to avoid.
I guess we will still need to equip lots of DoT mitigation from armor idols
Yeah, i literally only die to these without exception. If they manage to start off their channeling, its 100 to 0 in 0,4 seconds.
100 corr. and once again with max necro res dead in 0,1 second without any chance to react
Tangled Laser isn’t actually a DoT, it can crit. Which also means, you should be able to mitigate it with Armor, Block, Dodge, Parry and Glancing Blow.
I agree this skill is way overtuned. I die exclusively to this in 250+ corruption. Currently res capped, 31% armor, 31% block chance, 32% block mitigation, 42% endurance, 473 endurance threshold, 1600 health. 10% flat damage reduction from close, 1300 stun avoidance. Not incredible stats but it instantly stuns me and chews through it all.
Worth noting too that sometimes, even with 97% movement speed, I am sometimes not fast enough to step out of it even if I am already moving when it is cast at me. There are currently several skills in the game where this is also true.
Gonna re-evaluate when my stats are more minmaxed, but my current opinion is this needs tuning. Unfair in it’s current state.
I’m not surprised you die to this, your health is way too low for 250 corruption. You better have 3000+ Ward from somewhere, otherwise you really shouldn’t be in 250c Your defenses aren’t great either.
I don’t know the reason you can’t step out, Tangled Laser specifically is telegraphed by the necrotic green line on the ground, this is before the laser starts firing.
Anyone that thinks it’s your fault for dying is obviously partially correct. But the point of the thread is to show that it’s not in line with other damage in the game. And it clearly isn’t. This is pretty much the only thing I die to at corruption 300. You could ALWAYS be more tanky, but this is clearly not balanced.
Not sure how you can say this as I didn’t even say wnat class I was. Not everyone is running a sentinel with 4k hp. Plenty of builds running around with sub 1600 hp doing much higher corruption. It’s about total damage mititgation and I have multiple layers.
Tangled laser is usually telegraphed. Sometimes, and I’m not sure what modifiers cause it, it is nearly instant. On top of this, when the monter moves the laser moves. Some champion monsters will actually cast it, then teleport on top of you. Literally 0 counterplay.
To be clear, I’m not arguing against the point of this thread. I agree that the laser is overtuned.
But that is that, and people going to 250c with 1600 Health 0 Ward and weak defenses is a different story.

Unfortunately, your “multiple layers” in this case mitigates slightly less than just a single good layer of Armor. And that’s only if your Block actually happens, 2/3 of the time it just doesn’t happen.
Glad we agree that it’s overtuned. There are more telegraphed skills that do less damage, which means this is clearly not intended. Acceptable defense is subjective anyways.

It is definitely subjective. Some people prefer more of a glass cannon build.
But people’s preferences don’t change the general consensus. If someone asks on LE discord why is he dying so much, then posts a build that has weak Defenses and low HP, the first thing he gets told is to fix his HP and Defenses
I just started empowered monos and I have 1100 HP with 30% dodge and I get insta-gibbed.
It’s way over-tuned ATM.
Idk, maybe because even when I’m standing still attacking half the time I am stunned before hand and the other half the time when I try to Shift out the shift skill doesn’t work or react quick enough.

To give you an example, back in 1.0 my Mage had 990 HP at campaign Lagon, at lvl 52.
