Having specced surge into Ride the Lightning talent should make this skill target based, chaining within target if present and acting as it acts now (basically as a zig-zag teleport) if no target is close to the player.
This would be beneficial also for boss fighting giving a lot more depth to single target damage and for the sake of the playability of this skill in general.
