Supporter packs

Hey! Supporter packs are sold as steam codes, so it turns out that I can activate the key after the package sale ends?
If so, what do you think about the fact that old keys will be sold on third-party sites at a higher price?

I hope they find a way to prevent that!

This is something that happens regulary. The real question is: Is it against the ToS of anyone involved in this? If I as a private person bought something I can resell it for whatever price normaly. For companys this may be a bit different if they are price bound by the manufacturer of the good.

Why would it matter? It doesn’t hurt you in any way.

Someone else having cosmetics I don’t have has 0 impact on my gameplay or enjoyment of the game.

Not always. For example, you bought LE on Steam, but you can’t resell it. And if you buy cosmetics from the shop, you can’t resell them. So pretty much the only thing you can resell from LE is this single thing.

They talk about a key that enables you to use the produkt. You know like back in the day when you bought a full game on 8 floppies and gave it to a friend once you were done with it. They don’t sell an already used key that does nothing at least that’s what the OP is talking about to my understanding.
From this point of view reselling keys is or isn’t restricted considering the regulations of all companys involved.

I know that. But their argument is that they should simply be able to resell anything they bought and I just pointed out a few examples where this isn’t allowed.

I wish EHG would clarify their approach on supporter packs though. Right now, Mike gives a very grey answer and says current packs arent marked as exclusive and they may or may not come back.

I’ll rather they have a firm stance on whether packs are intended to be exclusive, and if not, what is the rotation policy around supporter packs. OP brought up an interesting point which would be very relevant in one of these circumstances.

yeah its kinda clear ehg havent got a plan for it, but also don’t realize that by being wishy-washy about stuff, they’re still aggressively playing into fomo stuff.

Well you got your answer now. They are exclusive to their release and going to be on cycles, like PoE does it. That’s fine by me, but I’m unaffected by FOMO.

I must have missed it. Can you point me to where it was officially confirmed?

Yeah, especially since @ehg_kain said that they weren’t going away. Mind you, are people conflating supporter packs with the 2 “upgrades” (I think these are the ones that aren’t going away, while I would assume the supporter packs were temporary like PoE’s).

The way I see it, the company’s target is to sell as many supporter packs as possible.
People can buy them because they like the cosmetics inside.
Or maybe they don’t care and just want to give the company some money.
Or they are investing, and buy them only to resell them in 2-3 years at a much higher price.

I don’t see why the company should be concerned about that. A sale is a sale. If anything, these “investors” would probably buy quite a few packs, increasing the sales by a lot.

I see thanks! I assumed the post on editions was specifically about what’s in those editions and didn’t read into it.

In that case, OP question then become very relevant. It means someone could potentially stock up on supporter pack keys and resell them far into the future when they have been rotated out?

Does that still apply, though? When I bought the supporter packs they were immediately credited to my account, I didn’t get any key.

The new supporter packs didn’t come with a key, the new “editions” do (unless you get one of the upgrades, obviously).
