I think it would make sense since EHG is now owned by Krafton. Seeing a lot of post about why would they support Krafton and drawing a lot of negative energy which could influence others looking into buying. Thoughts?
P.S. always buying so long as Seasons keep coming <3
I guess with the sentiment being that the consumer is supporting Krafton and not EHG? Maybe?
For OP, ultimately, I donât think the name will dent sales, there might be some slower sales this season, but those who are going to want the packs will buy the packs. Those who do not want to buy the packs (for whatever reason), they will not buy the packs. And those undecided will probably decide eventually (likely after seeing what they look like in-game or deciding on value for product).
I donât think the Krafton acquisition will have a large statistical impact on sales overall. A few percentage points at most would be my guess (and yes, I am buying the supporter pack because I want that dang cat pet)
yea thanks for your point of view. they topped the charts last season for supporter packs sold on steam and im hoping it gets there again. negative comments got to me this time around. never again!
They [Krafton] donât want to direct the game, monetization, hiring, or anything if we can handle it as we have been. Now I assume if we ended up falling off a cliff in terms of sales or growth theyâd have more interest in correcting failure, but so would we. But theyâre not looking to come in and throw wrenches into whatâs working, theyâre looking to enable growth under our direction which is to their benefit.
So my understanding is that, as long as the current economic model works, Krafton shouldnât interfere too much with EHG. Therefore, buying âSupporterâ packs (if the content is good) should actually give âsupportâ to EHG - as a studio - to keep relative independence from their new owner.
But that was not the point of the OP. The money will always go to the same place no matter what you call it.
But the current perception of many players is that giving money for LE is giving money to Krafton, as opposed to EHG before this.
Changing the name would be a way to shift player perception into them giving money to LE (not EHG, though).
I doubt changing it to season pack would be good though. Itâs too close to a seasonal pass and that has a load of negative connotations among players as well.
Maybe Last Epoch Care Package?
Also, I think changing the name, especially for paid MTX, would actually be detrimental, since it would be seen by many players as proof of Krafton influence already.
Yeah, but if you take that view then yes, it would eventually end up with Krafton, but after EHGâs costs have come off the top & after a year or so via the dividend process (which is not the fastest process). So people saying âsupporter pack funds go to Krafton not EHGâ is just all sorts of wrong, kinda like saying that adding an adventure mode or 3d art for all uniques or 2 genders is a trivial thingâŚ
I get why people say that, they arenât accountants (or developers) so they donât understand how these things work. So Iâm trying to explain to them that itâs not the case, just like how you do with programming gubbins.
Yeah, I get that. I donât disagree with you. But public perception is a powerful thing. Thatâs why companies do PR âstuntsâ. To shift public perception their way. I believe that was the intention behind the OP suggestion.
Not that I think it would work. Like I said, I expect any change like this would further cause players that already have that negative view to feel justified in saying that Krafton is already meddling, even if such a change actually comes from EHG.
Yeah, I think the people EHG would want to convince are too sensitive (not in a derogatory way) & too primed to not believe what EHG says that thereâs probably no benefit in saying anything.
