(I am not sure that this is the bug or functional…I wish this is not bug.)
Summoning Thorn Totem via Spined Idol does not consume mana/rage, whenever Human or other form.
This is important factor doing Mana/Rage control for builds used Spine Idols.
If this is not bug, I think it need to be clearly in text.
