Summon Wolves

I already reported this as a bug from the in game menu so this is more of a question for others.
A few days ago my summon wolves stopped working properly. It started after I equipped vessel of strife for me. I am also using herald of the scurry. What I mean by not working properly is that I can only have 2 wolves and 2 squirrels despite having maximum companions of 5. Also the skill summons only 1 companion until I reach my limit of 2. I want to know if more people besides 1 other guy I saw encountered this bug and if they managed to fix it somehow.

I tried to unequip herald of the scurry and vessel of strife, relog, restart the game, verify game files and despecialize skill. Nothing helped. No matter what I do I am stuck on 2/5 maximum companions then the ability changes to howl.

Did you by mistake take the passive that prevent you from having more than one companion?

No because as I said I can summon 2 wolves/2 squirrels but nothing more. Companion limit is 5 I checked multiple times. It all happened after I equipped vessel of strife at lvl 86. Until then everything worked fine. Now I am not sure if the item made it happen or such but yeah I am stuck at 2 companions no matter what I do.

Wolves naturally have a limit of 1 which goes upto 2 with Pack hunters node (seperate from companion limit), you need to have the modifier can summon wolves upto your companion limit to have more.

Either from the fang or the claw unique amulets https://www.lastepochtools.com/db/items/UAzDswNmI
or the skilltree node Safety in numbers.

If only you would have read that my maximum companion limit is 5 and also that I was using Herald of Scurry which doubles the amount of companions so I had 10 squirrels and the fact that I said I can now only summon 2 wolves and 2 squirrels which is weird cause I should be at least able to summon 4 squirrels with herald of the scurry on but that does not happen either. You just read the title and replied or?

I think you are not reading, maximum companion limit is not the point. Wolf has an internal summon limit of 1 (which becomes 2 with the pack hunters node) this applies to Squirrels too.

You need the modifier:
“You can Summon Wolves up to your Maximum Number of Companions”
To summon more than 2 Squirrels or Wolves. My guess is you had it from the Fang amulet or the skilltree node Safety in numbers and have now removed it.
Use either one of these and you can have 5 Wolves/ 10 Squirrels again.

Aight you are clearly missing the point so bad I am impressed. The companion limit does not increase for no reason. I have companion limit 5 because I have invested in the points you mention. I am confused how you do not see how wrong you are here. First of all by the fact that you did not understand that simple basic math. Second I am a beastmaster which means automatically I can summon 2 companions which means 4 squirrels which means it is bugged for me cause as I told you twice already I can only summon 2 of those as well before the spell turns into sciurine rage/howl. Your guesses are based on random stuff which you do not understand or read. I mean thanks for trying to help but do read and understand next time.

Alright, YOU seem to have some comprehension issues. Maybe visual aid will help.

This is the character you are talking about.

You need this node which you clearly do not have specialized

Or this item

Otherwise you can only summon upto 2 Wolves/Squirrels as per the skill’s own internal limit.

Alright so you are right and I am a complete moron. Thank you for making my tiny brain understand and I apologise but now I am also curious about Herald of the Scurry. Should it not be able to bypass that simple idea and at least let me summon 4 squirrels if I have pack hunters allocated? Is it because the helmet still considers them as wolves or? I mean it says you can summon squirrels up to twice your companion limit so why should safety in numbers be needed since they are no longer wolves? Once again though I am sorry and thank you.

Tis fine np, update your bug report tho. Internal summon limits are not clearly documented through the ingame tooltips I think(default is 1 tho). Its the main reason you can’t have 4 Sabertooths or 4 Scorpions by simply increasing companion limit.

On the squirrel helmet though(haven’t played squirrels myself), AFAIK they inherit all modifiers of the Wolf skill as the skill is essentially converted to Squirrels(hence they inherit the 2 summon limit too).
I think the text on the helmet is probably not clear on this and that the Devs should probably clarify.

Indeed they should update it because it does say the exact same thing it says on the safety in numbers passive so it is making it a bit confusing. And about the bug report…I made that in through the in game button is there anywhere I can find it and update it?

No way to do that AFAIK so prolly best leave it. A bug report post on the helmet wording would be cool too.

The problem is finding out how to update your bug report. When you do an ingame bug report I have never seen it on the Forum, even in my Activity. That’s one of the flaws of the ingame bug report, you can’t update it as far as I know.

I expect you can simply submit a new one saying to ignore the previous one.

Or you can go on discord and use their ModMail bot to ask for an update/removal.

Although the simplest is simply to do nothing. I expect the devs see that, reach the same conclusion as Heavy did and dismiss the report.

But I will admit that it would be nice to have some place where we could see our bug reports and their status. Either on your profile somewhere in the forum, somewhere in the main LE website or even in-game.

This one only works in cases like this where it really just needs to be cancelled, but when you discover new information to help or something else like that it would be extremely helpful to be able to update the ticket without having to go to Discord. Their ModMail would work, but it’s really a round-about way of doing it.

Submitting a new one to say “ignore the previous one” is tedious on both the user’s part as well as the devs, but it’s another way of getting there.

Yes, having some place here on the Forum would be the ideal way to do it, even if you have to go to your Profile page to find it at least it would be here.
