The Summon Frenzy Totem skill tree has three unique nodes that have the conditional “While Frenzy Totem is active…”, these nodes being: ‘Lead The Pack’, ‘Maim’ and ‘Venom Spray’. The node ‘Furious Cry’ is directly adjacent to the three mentioned nodes and refreshes companinion ability cooldowns, so the inherent and obvious gameplay decision is to place your frenzy totem and immediately use your refreshed abilities.
Currently there is a delay between when your frenzy totem is considered to be in the “active” state by these nodes, and when your companion cooldowns refresh through ‘Furious Cry’ which yields you with the non-upgraded version of your companion ability, or forcing yourself into a clunky playstyle of waiting 1/2 a second after casting frenzy totem.
For clarity, the bug is that furious cry refreshes your companion abilities and you can use them before your frenzy totem is even registered as active. Thus you do not get the benefits of Lead the Pack, Maim or Venom spray if you use them as soon as they are refreshed.
