Suggestion on skill mana cost revamp

Currently there are quite a plenty of skills in this game that require absurd amount of mana to cast, with some requires 1/3 or even 1/2 of mana. These skills are obviously not a good choice to pickup for leveling and mob farming, I would not say they are useless but it would definitely not giving players good experience on clearing.
My suggestion would be to make all skills base cost become minimal (single digit cost), then as the empowered skill nodes are being picked up, the mana cost will slowly increase based on how many major nodes you have picked up.
This would allow the players to cast all the skills smoothly early game, and would give them more choice in late game to increase or decrease the mana cost, resulting more build diversity.

I disagree. Balancing opportunity costs is what makes LE a fun crunchy puzzle  To smooth out and simplify would make it boring.

So you think every 2 to 3 cast and run around for long time doing nothing is a fun experience.
Further more, I am not saying to reduce the mana cost totally, I saying that the mana cost should gradually increase, instead of being high in the beginning.

Nah - I’m saying having a handful of skills presenting a different puzzle to solve is okay in a game with so much optionality available.

But you need to know that having more than one primary dps skill would normally resulting your end game build useless. Because its hard to get both affixes damage types that satisfy both skills.

The main point of ARPG is hack & slash feel, not tactic, tats not MMORPG where teamwork exists and 20+ skills interchange their cd for you to decide which one is the best to use.

This is where LE fitting in the middle of D4 and POE becomes interesting  You want it pulled closer to D4 simplicity, but that makes me nervous because I like that it can provide both hack & slash + tactics.

As for more than one dps skill - there’s a ton of synergy if you seek it out! Can absolutely find ways to make an affix satisfy multiple skills.

You get me wrong, I do not want it to pull closer to any genre. If you really want to compare, I think POE suits my idea more (obviously POE has much lesser mana cost and cd compared to D4).
If you like tactics, you can see how Undecember handle this, they implement tactics in combat, making fights much more interesting. I feel ARPG tactics should lean towards fight decision oriented instead of limiting your skills usage.
And for your mention on the synergy on dps skills, sorry LE just do not provide a good solution, I am comparing with POE because LE’s damage conversion is done very poorly with limited choices. If its POE player can convert almost all skills to another damage type easily, making much better synergy.
