It would be great for players to be able to lock our default town to the town we desire instead of where the player last signed off or departed.

yeah this is a great idea. Alternatively, they can introduce a custom hideout system (im thinking of Poe1 hideouts), which is something they should add anyway, then thatd become the default “town lock”.
A hideout has been suggested for a long time and they’re aware of it.
The most likely place to make one would be the echo of a world (where you go after an echo).
Although it should be noted that in PoE you don’t log into your hideout either. You always log into the last town and then have to port to it.

Hideouts are one of the few things I really miss about PoE1. When playing Grim Dawn, the Hideout mod was my favorite one. I can envision a need for this long-term, as EHG is adding new content/mechanics for every season. One place to handle all of our business outside of campaigning will become more and more of a necessity.

Even if they just made the End of Time the default town when you log in, that would be nice. Some of the town spawn points are too far from the stash & merchants.
