Suggestion for Training Dolls

Hey all,

I have 2 suggestions for the training dolls.

  1. Make it show the dps: I think that is pretty straight forward.

  2. Provide a Vendor which allows you to borrow crafted Items: e.g. you want to try out a specific unique with a T7 attack speed affix. So you go to the vendor and rent an item, which you can just tweak to your desired affixes. You can then use it on the training doll to check for dps. This would give the player a better idea of how big an upgrade would be. And it would act as a gold sink because the vendor’s service is of course not for free. I.e. you have to pay level-dependent, Item dependend and affix dependend rental fees…

What do you all think?

I’m not sure if specific affixes would be viable, you’ld end up with hundreds of items per slot on the vendor. What most people look for though is a build-testing environment, where you can rent a level 20 skill to try out.

As for the DPS meter: It’s a hot topic every time it comes up. The main issue there is that while it gives you some extra information, it risks becoming a singular metric for builds, which would create toxicity among the community as to what builds “are best”.

Personally, I’ld be OK if I had some relative numbers, like “87% melee damage, 12% Ailment, 1% minion” or something like that. But in the end, minmaxers will usually find a way to tell others that “they’re playing it wrong” as soon as you give them the tools to do so.

I like the loaner idea

Maybe I have explained my vendor idea not clearly enough… It would be like lastepochtools where you can choose your items.

How often does it happen that you wonder: should I get attack speed on my weapon or rather flat damage? Which gives more output? In the dummy vendor you can “rent” your target items including affixes of choice and test how it feels and how much damage it does. And you can do that vs. A fee.

About the dps: In think that the dps meter is helpful in combination with the vendor idea.

I get it that people would compare their chars via dps numbers and there is nothing wrong with that imo. Everyone knows that there is more to a char than dps. Glass cannon always has more dps than the “I facetank everything”. And then there is also the skill… Thats why dps numbers would not reflect arena outcomes… But I get your point.
