Shouldn’t Spellblade’s second part of his passive ability be more generic? I know that spellblade focuses mainly on melee elemental attacks, but when I play a “mage” I also want to use spells. The first part of his passive ability (gain 4 Ward on hit on melee attack) seems ok but I feel like the second part (mana spent on melee attacks is converted to Ward) should be more generic and also affect spells and if the devs find that op it can be a X% of mana spent is converted to Ward. I am currently playing a Spellblade and my plan for now is to use Elemental Nova as my primary damaging skill and it’s very annoying that I don’t get to benefit from my Mastery’s passive ability.
To the devs: Please consider changing Spellblade’s passive ability so that you can benefit from it when you use spells.
What made you chose Spellblade instead of Sorcerer and what other skills do you play?
Elemental Nova feels to me very hybrid between them, so it’s interesting to know.
I was planning to go Spellblade all along, because I already have a Sorcerer. I figured that Spellblade is about close-range spells and attacks. Without any former planning, I just liked how Elemental Nova plays out and decided to use it as my primary skill. The other skills I’m using for now are Flame Reave with cd nodes, Snap Freeze, Flame Ward and Focus. I use Elemental Nova as channeling so I need the mana from Focus. I was using Mana Strike with cd instead of Focus at first, but it was very frustrating as I happened to miss farely frequently. I plan to swap out Snap Freeze for Surge once I unlock it.
I don’t know if this is going to be my final skill setup, but it seems kind of appealing to me for now.
