Suggestion for capitalizing on launch server issues

Asking out of curiosity and in support of this great game; would it be possible/feasible to allow one-time character migrations from offline → online game modes? This might potentially 1) alleviate server load bottlenecks and 2) provide a way to capitalize and compensate players for continued support.

I can imagine there is some sort of existing infrastructure for this, due to character migration on Cycle end, but I suppose as anything it depends on feasibility.

Keep up the good work

Offline to online will never happen because offline characters can be edited. Letting cheated characters into competitive play is not a good idea.

Obviously, yes, there would need to be some sort of character validation. There are ways to achieve this, it just depends on the existing infrastructure, and feasibility, as I originally said.

There really is no way to validate, though. If I use cheat engine to give me 1 million gold, how can they validate if you actually farmed that gold or not? Likewise for XPs. I can use cheat engine and give myself level 90 almost instantly. Or I can give myself some BiS gear. There really isn’t a way to validate these things.

That wasn’t the type of validation I was referring to, but you are kind of harping on a non-issue. If online is unplayable or barely playable, the arena ladder is already skewed. If it becomes a large enough issue, exceptions to rules can be made, such as limiting trade/ladder tracking until things stabilize.

This post is voicing a suggestion on how EHG can potentially reciprocate the support they are receiving, despite the online inconsistency. They stated so in their latest dev posts. This post isn’t to get into the specific inner-workings of why this can’t be done.

I don’t know what type of validation you mean, then. No matter what you do, if you allow offline to migrate into online you’ll allow cheaters to offset online balance. Not to mention that people that persevered and managed to play online would be at a disavantage, even if that were not the case.

Online isn’t barely playable. I managed to play fine the last 3 days. There were times in the first day where zone transitions took a long time, or failed and I had to tried them again, or was booted to character selection. But I still managed to play for long periods of time.
Today I even managed to play all afternoon without any issues at all, not even long loading times. So online is still playable, just annoying at times.

This is a terrible idea and I can’t believe so many people think it’s not.
