I was a big fan of set affixes where it felt like a real end game affix. It was rare and took having multiple pieces of gear before switching over and it felt like a powerspike. One of the problems a lot of people have with the current game is getting stunned at harder endgame content, especially for melee. I’m curious how others feel aobut a set affix coming back in the form of stun avoidance + crit avoidance where Tier5 would have a value of 10-12%. This would mean 3 affixes with good rolls would result in 100% CA and 100% SA. I would still make more mob telegraphs such as the desecrated flesh boulder have guaranteed stuns that you could call something else. Make these affixes drop in lvl 90+ zones so people would probably build CA first, then when they get to late game they need to optimize gear into this new rare affix.
I liked when set affixes were here, but i also like it now that they are gone. The nature of set affixes meant that they had to be used in something that had some artificial limit like res or something that had its own diminishing returns.
i think i prefer when i slowly upgrade my gear piece by piece rather than hold on to new piece until the new set is ready. But i dont see why we cant both have our way. I dont desire it, but i dont hate it either.
I can’t say that I’ve missed set affixes. I’ve barely even thought about them at all this patch, so I think that should tell me something about how I feel about them. But stuns 100% need to be addressed. Listening to Lizard’s stream this evening, he made a really good point about how protections changed a few patches back but the stun formula did not. our health rose but also the average damage we can take per hit, which has created a much more punishing stun mechanic at endgame. I don’t know about set affixes addressing the problem, but something pretty drastic needs to change with the stun mechanic, and hopefully it’ll happen well before MP and the influx of a very large number of players.
