Struggling to understand Harbinger's melee attack

Running a dual-Jelkhor’s DA Rogue, been targeting EM for a few days now. For some reason starting today, the melee attacks of the Harbinger (Spirits of Fire, mainly) are completely overwhelming me; these are in Timelines that I’ve already beaten the Harbinger.

In a nutshell, I can usually take the hit on the first swing, then I’ll dart out of the way, throw a few traps, rinse and repeat. Today’s encounters, however, made me think that the damage had been adjusted, maybe even delayed, so that I had no chance. What happens is this: I take/dodge the attack; if the damage is over 50%, I leave, else I stay for a bit and jam some DAs in his backside. Now, I’m taking about 40% damage on the initial hit, then about a second later the rest of the damage shows up to wipe me out. I’ve never encountered this on any of my dozen characters currently in the EMs.

Been a really bad day game-wise; already deleted a Necro that suddenly could not kill anything in Corruption 200, almost deleted another that got the most f’d up stats on a Possessed Rift Beast I’ve ever seen, spent 5 minutes running in circles, only to die because their was literally no where to shift that wasn’t covered in web or fire patches that never seem to go away.

I think EHG needs to open a Therapy sub-forum so we can post our most insane beat-downs.

Do you have any item that has something like this on it: 20% of hit damage from bosses is taken over 4 seconds?

Which attack is it? you should be able to see the name on the death screen after it kills you as well as the damage amount and type.

This can also be used to see specifics of that attack.
Another question, are you stunning the boss? Stun is weird in Last Epoch sometimes even detrimental to the player. There’s many attacks(especially boss attacks) that continue even when the boss is stunned and in the stun animation and sometimes attacks even skip animation due to stun.

No, I just double-checked that.

Damage types were Physical and Void. It could be the stunning, but I don’t have any extra stun chance. I do have the crit amulet, with 130% crit chance, so maybe that’s the problem.

I think the issue is the duration of this attack (2.5 seconds). Live and learn, I guess.
