Steam player numbers dropping fast

This has the potential to break records, but this crashing of online services is making concurrent players drop down fast. Please fix this, id like to see it hit 3-400k. If this isnt fixed pretty soon you probably might lose half the potential playerbase. Launches matter.

Thank god you’re here to save the day @Omentum ! Not sure what they would have done without your detailed fix…

Welcome to a typical launch day.

Patience is often a virtue.

Just because the launch is having tech issue doesn’t mean half the player base will abandon the game. If people do leave, they will be missing out on a cool game. We just need to give them time to get the server issues sorted out. We’re all a little bummed, but given how fun the game is, let’s give them a break.

It seems the issue is way more serious than just “scaling resources”. Else it wouldn’t take so long to fix it. I bet we will have lags, login issues, location change issues for long until players retention reach affordable for the game numbers. Unfortunately.

I knew it all the time. They should have just waited with the official relesae another 3-6 mths.
This is nothing but a very bad joke.
Disaster.

Every single game has issues on launch day.

Just relax and test something offline.

I don’t blame them.

Guys I’m in, keep trying.

I got in too, got up to the entrance to Keeper’s Camp and then matchmaking error. Couldn’t get in. Then got booted :stuck_out_tongue:

quick, turn the servers off and on. The first 50k who make it in win.

Gotta love the launch day and people complaining. Fun times!

Not sure what all the complaining is about but I was able to login first try and play the game with only a 30 second que

I am in online mode now. new lvl 1. I got to 30 something while waiting in offline lol.

Launches are rarely smooth and Steam numbers dropping is nothing new. There will always be players who have little to no patience and give up on the game but, even with numbers shrinking there are also players who will be willing to give the game another chance once launch is smoothened out.

The devs and management dont even know the game is down. I dont know anyone in my friends list and none of them know anyone that can get in.

I can see why this launch is a total failure, D4 was FAR smoother and better than this. I doubt they have the ability to fix this within the next day or two, going to take weeks to sort this out.

What are you talking about

I played d4 launch, it isn’t comparable. D4 launch was server issues for a very long time. These guys are a small studio. Stop raging, it literally does nothing but make you more miserable.

I did as well and i didnt have so much as a hiccup to D4 servers connecting, staying connected, zoning, etc. D4was absolutely flawless for me, I must have gotten lucky then.

Either way its clear that server stability is not their top priority so until it becomes their top priority expect stability issues.

this happens with every online game release. the only way to deal with this is to pay for way too many servers on launch, to make up for the extra players. but peak players always goes down in the following months, while the contract for server space continues at the same price for a whole year

diablo 4 launch might have been fine but that’s one of the first blizzard launches that has been ‘fine’ in like 20 years.
