Stash Search Desires

I know stash search topics have been made and commented on, but I don’t recall seeing anything that listed out what we desire for the Stash Search. I will put my desires here and hopefully others can provide input on their desires as well.

This is all in good faith to provide feedback to the devs for what we would like the Stash Search to do, as we don’t know what their plans are for the future of this capability.

  • Search should not include Alt text (descriptions of affixes)
    1. Poison Damage should not show Poison Resistance affixes
  • Provide the capability to search by actual affix (Hybrid is prime key here in my mind)
  • Better visibility for matching items (Some items have a background that make them not stick out)
  • Ability to specify Affix vs. Implicit
  • Ability to search for multiple criteria. Ex: Spear with Poison Damage

I’m sure there are more but that’s where my mind is right now.

This would also probably be applicable for MG but I don’t play MG so don’t know.

All good points. I don’t imagine them doing any of this though, mainly cause none of the competition does (POE, Grim Dawn, Diablo, etc). Their searches are just as basic.

But I am with you and would love to see this area get more attention. They could have a syntax system that is explained in-game. I would also love to see a search bar in the character window. Would make it so much easier to track down where your various stats are coming from. Instead we’re forced to use third party tools like LE Tools.

PoE (and PoE2) have a regex-like search that is actually quite advanced and lets you search most of what he suggested.

Personally, I’d like to have a sort of loot filter applied to the chest. One where you simply add rules like you do to the normal filter, except it applies to the chest.

Thanks! I wouldn’t say that they ‘won’t’ do it just b/c others don’t, they are known for doing things differently.
It’s basic things like these that are simple QoL which would make the Stash a lot more enjoyable to find things that are actually applicable to your search.

Interesting, didn’t know that. But do they explain anywhere how to use it? It’s not explained anywhere in-game, which obviously means 99% of players won’t know. I’m assuming there’s a forum post somewhere explaining their system?

GGG explaining things in-game to their users and making life easier? What a strange idea!

Yeah, you don’t know how to use it in-game, you have to search either their forum or discord for it. Possiblity there’s some article by some gaming site that covers it as well, I don’t know.

Would be cool if Bazaar search was available for the stash

Uh, so you mean exactly like everything else in PoE? What a surprise XD

@stebobibo
Jokes aside, yeah, the regex search option is superb with it’s own limitations. But it’s one of those things you shouldn’t really learn how to use it, rather, you have to learn how to go to the website, select the mods you want and copy-paste the code generated in the search box in-game. Pretty much like everything else in the game.

Sure, one can memorize all different kinds of code combinations, But it’s just ultimately inefficient doing that manually all the time. Same reason why most PoE crafting blasters are constantly using 3rd party sites and apps to do what they do more efficiently, even though they might have most formulas memorized.

But LE’s search function is a joke, sadly. I gave up trying to use it the moment this started annoying me to the bones… Seriously, this seems like basic (from a non-programmer pov), I don’t know how it remains untouched for so long:

PoE has an actual Regex search functionality. Hence you can do quite advanced stuff.

You can actively search in the following format and it’ll cause a advanced outcome:
“+[34][0-9]%[a-z ]+fire” “+[7][0-9][a-z ]+life”

So where again was their search ‘basic’? :stuck_out_tongue:

Did you miss the part where he said he wasn’t aware it exists and the part where we were roasting GGG for it?

Fair.

It at least has the functionality though, and while not intuitively implemented (the basics which are though are better then what LE offers currently) it’s at least the search functionality available.

Function over form is very important… GGG just forgot that ‘form’ exists :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit:
EHG forgot that they need to implement their function before their form instead.
Lovely looking UIs but the functionality that should be behind it kinda missing.

Don’t know which is ultimately better, both can be fixed relatively quickly… but kinda aren’t.
