Spirit Plague has some sort of odd, hidden Cooldown or pause

This is really, really easy to reproduce. Just get a high level character and go to Dummy and try to cast Spirit Plague over and over as fast as you can. You can do the same with another spell like Rip Blood (also no cooldown) to see the huge pause between casts of Spirit Plague.

In case build matters, here is the one I am using: Lich, Level 100 (LE Beta 0.8.2i) - Last Epoch Build Planner

Hard to understand what the problem is here without seeing a clip or video of what you think is the bug. If you can provide one, i’ll take a look.

I took a look and I do not see any issues on my end.

Could what you are experiencing be the fact you converted Spirit Plague into a combo skill by taking Conductor of Plagues? What you are mechanically doing is activating the skill on the dummy and then making it spread (which does nothing on a single target), then activating it again.

Why would that skill not also cast Spirit Plague? It isn’t really clear from its text.

Also, if I am using Life’s Journey shield, will it cast it each hit (if the % procs) or will a 2nd proc only cause it to spread via that node?

Also, I have noticed that I cannot cast a 2nd Spirit Plague on a different target within that 2 seconds. i.e. it’s still in some cooldown mode, I’ll try to get a video from a real fight.

Ah I see.

Life’s Journey applies the Spirit Plague aliment on hit, it doesn’t “cast” or “recast” on a target. What you see is working as intended.

To make this more clear I will edit the node to say “Directly recasts” to avoid confusion.

Also, a question on Life’s Journey. Is it applying Spirit Plague via my skill tree (assuming it is)? Does this mean the Conductor of Plagues will effectively not work with Life’s Journey? (assume yes by your reply).

Life’s Journey does use the Spirit Plague tree but not that particular node because it has to be activated by casting.

Is the 2nd video a bug if I am casting on two different targets?

Looks correct to me in the video. You spread and than reapplied on another enemy.

Oh, so the way it works is:

  • Cast on target 1
  • “Cast” on target 2 which does nothing to target 2 but triggers Target 1 to spread?

Correct. Second cast in the combo skill does nothing but spread, the next after that is a normal cast. You can tell what part of the combo you are on from how the ability looks in your hotkey bar. It will look more green when it’s on the “spread” functionality.

Got it, ok, I guess I was misreading (or reading into) “recast” i.e. “recast on the same target” when it doesn’t say that.
