Spirit Plague Casting Time VS Casting Animation

I’ve been doing some testing on the test dummy at end of world with Spirit Plague and it’s poison. I’ve noticed I can cast faster than the Spirit Plague animation goes down, but Poison stacks only cumulate when the Spirit Plague animation hits. Not sure if this is intended, but with more increased cast speed I still cast faster than the Spirit Plague animation hits. I do notice multiple Spirit Plague animations do stack poison so I think it might be a bug.

Just thought of something. It could be because of Conductor of Plagues passive node. I’ll unspec the node and test later.

I’m not quite sure what you’re trying to test for. Spirit Plague doesn’t stack on a single target.

Spirit Plague does not stack. Nothing in the wording of the skill or what I said should indicate that. It’s the poison stacking of the skill I’m testing. You can cast spirit plague on a creature that is already effected by spirit plague and the poison stacks from just the skill itself do stack. I’m stating between the casting animation and the animation of Spirit Plague is a bug. You can cast faster than the Spirit Plague animation “Landing or Hitting” an enemy. But even though it counts as a cast, because the Spirit Plague animation won’t re-occur until the original animation is done (as far as I can tell so far) Spirit Plague won’t technically apply more poison stacks until the next Spirit Plague animation. Your character will continue to make casting animations with more or increased cast speed, but the animation from the spell itself is the problem.

But the problem I’ve found isn’t with the Spell Animation, but using Conductor of Plagues node in Spirit Plague itself.

Maybe yes, maybe no. You see, when you see a tick of damage from a skill or ailment, that’s not necessarily when the damage was first applied. You know sometimes you see a much bigger tick from poison on the first tick then it settles down to the “normal” amount, that first tick actually has 2 ticks of poison damage but the game summed them up & displayed them as 1 number.

So you might want to pay attention to the values of the damage ticks, since that’ll tell you how many stacks of poison are on the target (though poison is a bit harder than the other ailments since it has a built-in poison-shred effect). If the poison damage numbers vary quite a lot then it might be that the poison stacks are being applied based on your cast speed rather than the skill’s “landing” animation.
