Clicking “sort inventory” within a stash tab causes the client to freeze in 1.1.7 either upon the button press or after interacting with another UI element (such as a mouse-over or tab). The game then becomes unresponsive and must be forcibly closed.
Interestingly enough, the stash tab will be correctly sorted upon logging back in, so this looks to be client-side.
(No log file available, since the entire application freezes.)
I am also experiencing this issue.
The stash freezes for 3-5 seconds every time I open it (I have 4 tabs). If I press sort might as well ctrl+alt+delete and end task. I see many posts about stash issues, I hope they are working on it.

Been having this issue since day one of 1.1.7. Whether in Cycle or Legacy, I can’t sort stash tabs, make a new category, buy a new tab, or swap to the “remove only” tabs of previous versions (in Legacy), without the game freezing, and sometimes full-on crashing.
Double bump. This seems to be happening a lot across the board. There is a post on reddit about stash issues as well. Can we please get an update, or if you plan to fix this issue?
This appears to be resolved as of hotfix 1.1.7.4
