Hello! So, I’ve thought about whether this is either a bug or is intentional, and to me it’s most likely a bug. I’ll do my best to explain the situation. I could TRY to get screenshots of it, but honestly it’s hard to… So first, a recap on Static’s node: Overload.
Overload makes it so when above 80 charges, you expend 10 chargers per second to cast, Zap. The node that is bugged, is the node Unstable. Unstable reads: “You Zap more enemies each time it is cast, but Zap expends more charges.”
The first point into this, reads: Zap enemies hit: + 1, Zap charge cost: +40%
In theory, this means that Zap now expends 14 charges, instead of 10, per second to cast. The bug, is that it doesn’t do that. It expends 14 chargers, per zapped enemies hit, per second. Meaning if I am near 1 enemy, it will now cost me 14 charges even though there is no change. That’s fine, but when I am near 2 enemies, it now not only costs 14 charges, but also an additional 14 charges. In other words, at 100 charges if I am near two enemies I will immediately be brought down to 72 charges, not 86. This is either intentional, or totally a bug. If it’s on purpose, then I should post this in the improvements section, as this makes that node very bad, as the scaling is very off, since it goes from 10 charges expended, to 28, to 54… These numbers get ridiculous, to the point where nobody would ever put 4 points in. With 4 points alone, at 80 charges, would cost you 130 charges, which definitely doesn’t make any sense. The node below Overload is called, Diode: which is supposed to decrease Zap charge cost by -1 per point. As you can see, this sounds completely intentional that Zap’s cost was only supposed to go up by about 40% per point, as it reads. Not 40% per point per zapped enemies. Because if you do work out the math, the Zap charge cost -1 per point, does essentially nothing in synergy with that node lol. The node seems very bugged to me but if this is intentional, I guess my guess on this was incorrect.
I’m a bit sad as I was building my very first build without any online build to adapt from, and I got the idea of what to do with these nodes only to find out it may be bugged.
While this was quite lengthy, I hope this makes sense and I’d love to hear feedback from the devs/mods to know if this is a bug. I couldn’t find it reported, but I’m not very good at the last epoch website’s interface. That’s all :o This is my first official bug report so I hope to hear feedback soon.
Sincerely,
