I am trying to make a DoT build with Disintegrate but I am hitting some disappointing roadblocks. First is that Disintegrate does no hits which severely limits some stat interactions. No “ignite on hit” from gear and the Warder talent which seems almost made for Disintegrate does not work.
I suggest making the application of ignite that disintegrate periodically pulses could key off ignite on hit and Warder. An invisible hit for 1 non-scaling damage but that counts as from a “fire” and “lightning” skill on disintegrate ignite applications might work.
Or they could just remove the Damage over Time tag from Disintegrate (as has been mentioned several times), then each tick of damage would count as a hit & most of it’s problems are solved…
I like being able to scale it with DoT though. It lets me have an active attack that scales with DoT while I activate other DoTs. I do something similar with Acolyte using Drain Life and her other abilities.
Yes, that’s a very valid point, however since Disintegrate has the DoT tag you can only proc the ignite ailment if you take the ignite nodes - Magnify (5 points, up to 75% chance to ignite) & Unbridaled Power (2 points, up to 50% ignite chance), for a total ignite chance of 125% (or 1 stack plus 25% chance for a second) per tick. Since it has the DoT tag, you can’t get that any higher with gear or passives & 125% per tick (which you can’t make any faster with cast speed) isn’t great.
Seems obviously designed to be used with Disintegrate considering it gives a bonus straight up to the spell. However I bet it falls into the “didn’t think this all the way through” trap and the on hit doesn’t work.
Nope, doesn’t work because Disintegrate doesn’t hit. As it stands, they would probably have to do some special coding and change the wording (ie, change it to refer specifically to Disintegrate) to make that affix apply to Disintegrate.
