Some suggestions from a 600 hour player

So far after playing maybe 100 toons through the story I’m sich an tiered of it as well but I don’t care. Watching a film while getting thhrough the story is np and I still want no shortcut YET. Right now everything is fine and if you don’t want to overdo it on one char to not burn out on other stuff you want to test then don’t push it to hard.
If there is some seosnal stuff or whatever it will be calles here in the future some fast leveling methods are fine like D3 or like Martyr they simply introduced +xp stats for gear. Right now and after release leveling, getting masteries or playing a new toon should need some time because if not I see all the “boohoo no conent in this game done after 20h scam game want me money back!” comments on reviews.

Just get one toon to 80 and you can test everything you want right now this can be easiely done in some hours and if you don’t like what you get play the next one. You don’t loose stuff you get more and more goodies for each minute you played that makes it easier and faster to play the next toon to a certain level.

I can’t find the posting anymore but wasnt it @FoE who said “story can be done in 3 hours.”? With all the crap in my chest i don’t need to pick up anything before level 50 outside of hards and gold if i want to an I’m able to run stuff down and ignore 90% of the enemys and hunt for the objectives. Sooner or later the whole story part is just a “Run it down!” kind of thing.

You can speedrun the campaign in a bit over 2 hours, yes. But you need to know what you’re doing & have gear prepared.

That isn’t an issue after you spend some hours grinding. When I began to play the game I leveld one toon for while. When I wanted to start over with a new toon I head level gear from lvl 4 to 50. I just kept what seemed good for melee builds, pet builds and so on and so forth.
Right now I need arround 4 hours with all sidezones. If I run it down and get some passive points on the sides later on I could be even faster.

I actually disagree here with skipping the campaign in most cases. I think it’s important to learn your character during campaign. The exception for me would be if you already have a sharpshooter rogue for example and want to make another one to try other skills or use gear that you have acquired without completely respeccing and want to make another character of the same class. Also, like Llama8 said, you can fly through the campaign once you’ve done it a time or two.

Well, that’s what the target dummies are for right? :slightly_smiling_face: Also, you can do the exact same thing at any boss at any stage.

That being said, I’m going to rest my case, because from the comments so far, it feels like I’m very much in the minority hehe. I do still disagree that it’s a bad thing to give someone who has played through the entire campaign the option to skip it. I don’t think devs should care about people who complain that a game lacks content if they’re given a quality of life option that saves them time, because then that implies that the Ubisoft style of open world “content” fluff is a good thing, when in fact it’s not.

Again, I’m asking for it only as an option, and one that is unlocked only AFTER you finish the campaign. It’s not something that should be there from the get go. But yeah, I think I’ve said all that I can say about this topic. Thanks for everyone’s feedback!

Well, that’s what the target dummies are for right?

Dummies can’t fight back. I don’t bully.

For me, I enjoy the leveling experience because its the one time I feel truly dominant over the NPCs. With the right leveling uniques or rares crafted to speed up leveling, I can absolutely plow through monsters with speed. Also, there’s something satisfying about getting a level and new points to allocate every 5 minutes instead of every 5 hours.

But, I wouldn’t begrudge someone who wanted to skip all of that and get right to the end game, so if it was added as an option, no harm no foul IMO.

So many great ideas and feedback I relate to!
Thank you for compiling all of these, I support most of them entirely!

So I have another idea. LMK what you all think of this one:

Add a rune, probably a very rare high level rune, that gives you the ability to upgrade low level unique items. I would love the ability to use different builds or even create builds for some of the great lower level unique items at higher or max level. In most cases it’s simply not feasible to use them because of the low stats. In fact, only reroll implicit mods to give you a chance to bring those stats up to a level 70-80ish unique.

For example, Draalsting has Serpent Strike BM written all over it. But with only 35 melee physical damage, you simply can’t do enough damage with it to use it high levels.

Let me know what you all think!

While i agree, that some uniques could use a similar or stronger “endgame version”, i am not sure about the rune approach. Just add tham as individual items.

Regarding your Draalsting example, i agree for hybrid hit + ailment builds, but if you going full ailment weapon base dmg does not matter at all.

The weapon is defintiely endgame viable.

I was thinking hybrid and only using the Draalsting as an example although I can see how if you were going pure poison it would be viable. I don’t disagree with adding them as higher level items either. Just a thought on another way to upgrade lower level uniques.

IMO, uniques must stay as they are. In another topic I proposed to have more uniques like Fang and Claw (a low level version and a high level version), but I feel we should not be able to modifiy a unique. Maybe this will be for legendary items when they are released.

Although I dislike making new characters in some of these games due to the fact ive done the story 500 times the main feeling I want is progression even if the character im going to play next has all their endgame gear ready - however I love fresh starts with nothing ie new leagues/seasons

In PoE I rolled a second character this league and had a full set of gear ready to go at 68-72, most people would not of played the skill from level 4 and level’d with a fast skill then respec’d at 68-72 but I like feeling like trash and my character slowly turning into destroyer of all content

just on that, Draalsting does enough damage to clear all content even if it had +1 Melee Physical, you just use it to apply poison anyway, the biggest problem is lack of AoE which I actually posted about yesterday but thats a Serpent Strike issue, this spear is one of the best items in this game and now it has +1 to SS as well

Thanks for the feedback both of you.
