Some Questions about making Legendaries

As far as i understand it you take your Uniques with Legendary Potential and your Exalted (same Itemtype) into your Inventory. Then you complete the Dungeon and stash both into the Eterntiy Cache.
So i wanted to ask some Questions about it:
1.) What happens if you use Exalted Items where some Affixes are also on the Uniques like +% dmg and such. WIll it copy them too and i suddenly have 2 times that Bonus or does it ignore them when copying to the Unique?
2.) does it work for Setitems? (cause they seem to lack diversity and that bit of power)

1. Yes, it will copy them, and doesn’t care what stats are already on the Unique. The only thing it won’t do is let you make unusable items, like putting an Acolyte only stat on a Sentinel only helmet.
2. No.

Yes it can copy them too, which mean you may have the same affix twice.

No, you can’t use it on Set items.
