I never knew what I was doing when I started and now wish to switch my level 70+ character so I can use what I have found on a new character. Please give me advice.
As far as I can tell, I’ll keep anything in my player inventory. What about crafting items? How do I make the switch without losing everything?

Yes, but due to not being able to remove shards from the forge anymore, you can’t take them with you.
Yes, you keep what you have in the inventory. Nothing more.
