My apologies if this has already been answered, but if I create a character today (2/14) will I be able to play that character with my best friend who would be starting on 3/9 with the multiplayer release?
No, all characters that we currently create will stay offline characters.
Nope. No offline characters will ever be moved to online.

I love how everybody on Last Epoch always uses the word “character”.
I mean, I hate games where people talk about their “toons”, it feels SO demeaning.

I am also a person that actually tries naming all my character properly… until I run out of ideas and THEN i very sadly will name them after my initial build intention (PhyHarvestBleed)

So do I, they are all called Llama (and generally something to do with the build intention).

I have 3 cats, should I not be using their names in my character names? 
I just started a new skyrim anny edition play through. Created a Khajiit in remembrance of one of my cats. All is normal and your in good company

Replace “characters” with “heroes” when you read it. Problem solved.
I actually find this as a good thing we need to do.
A more interesting thing though, is… Will this also be the case when the day comes for official release of the game? That remains to be seen.
The plan is moving all existing characters to a “Standard Cycle”.
EHG will reserve themselves the right to wipe online characters if there were major exploits being abused by a portion of the community between 0.9 and 1.0.
But they definitely want to avoid this.
