I am probably just extremely blind but I am not able to change/remove the solo challenge through settings.

You canāt. Thatās why. Those settings are chosen at character creation. The "āChallengesā tab in the settings section just shows you what you selected for that character.

But in the game guide it says that you can cancel at any time in the options

This used to be a thing, is it a bug or did it get removed and they didnāt update the guide?

I hope itās a simple bug, as Iāve already made a lot of progress
any traction on this? it is clearly still in the game, the button just does not workā¦ are they bringing it back?
