anyone who went through all of it can tell me is it at the end of day a huge buffs? small? whats lookin good on lich now like what builds potentially?
Most Lich builds are getting a big buff when it is about defense, about offensive potential i believe Melee Lich is receiving a BIG buff but spell lich will be the strongest in my opinion.
Death Seal doesnât give offense anymore unless you specifically want Wave of Death to deal some extra damage, but it doesnât boost your other parts of the build a ludricious amount anymore.
Flay is very versatile and can be brought into many different direction, we have to see how well it competes but it looks very good numbers wise.
Harvest got a buttload of more multipliers, but lost the insane base crit and flat melee damage from Int, but Dex gives both Harvest and Flay 2 Melee Damage per point.
So Int will be generic scaling and caster Lich and Dex will be Melee Lich scaling.
All the caster spells got some decent buffs and there are now two ways to trigger Marrow Shards. Marrow Sahrds always as pretty good numberswise buts its awful as a direct self-cast. With those triggers it will see some use 100%.
All the buffs will be counter-acted by the loss of Death Sealâs offensive power, but now Death Seal is not mandatory anymore and only makes you insanely tanky.
Defensive Wise Lich now is the absolute king vs damage over time and will probably be able to face tanky almost all DoT type abilities.
Having a functional defensive setup for high endgame will be very straining on the gear, because Corrupted Form will lower your eHP vs one-shits qutie a bit, but offers insane benefits as a trade-off.
TL:DR: Flay will potentially be crazy, but all Lich builds have a bunch new options and much mroe freedom. The overall dps at the end will very likely not be much higher than previously.
May have to try out Harvest and see how some of this works with those new weapons and stat increases.
I donât have answers, just throwing in here what I want to try: The two builds Iâm eyeing:
-
Some kind of Aura of Decay Lich. Aura of decay was the first character I ever took to 100 but that was a long time ago and itâs gotten nerfed/power crept since then. So hopefully the new changes can bring it back in some way.
-
Bane of Winter cold hybrid Flay. Bane of Winter makes flat melee damage get added to cold spells. So Flay doing both melee and spell damage in one package seems like the perfect fit and it works since it can get converted to cold. No idea if spreading out the points across hybrid nodes is going to be worthwhile though.
I have been away for a while. How is Lich going to tank DoTs? There is a node that makes DoT bypass ward, but then what?
Then the lich dies.
If you take that node youâll scuff yourself heavily, which is what I pointed out in the patch-notes.
At first I thought they meant that it bypasses enemy ward⌠which wouldâve been a dumb decision but at least I could understand the design-decision there⌠despite it being incredibly awful design-wise.
But after it was pointed out it lets DoTs bypass your own ward I was just baffled as it would necessitate around 30-40% DoT DR to make that worthwhile since Lich isnât running around with 5k HP and 60% Endurance after all⌠quite a lot less.
So the tldr: Itâs a F-Tier node which is a noob-trap and has currently nigh only detrimental effects.
Exactly what you said. Imapct Wards has 20% less damage taken over time + if you really want to commit but cost a lot of passive points 50% of DoT taken as poison and 20% less poison dmg, so taht is 10% less DoT from non-poison sources as well.
Also Impact Ward makes it bypass ward so your leech can directly work against DoT while retaining Ward for chunky incoming hits.
You have to choose now on top as well. Play a caster/ward lich that is int based and call it a day or you want to have actual fun with a melee build and you have to invest into dex what is a dead stat to you and gimp your ward what leads to the need to scale vit as well for the passive that increases your dodge rating from terrible to bad with meh dmg and little wardretention.
To me itâs a complete mess BUT I give it a try non the less because sometimes stuff looks bad on paper and turns out well. For me itâll try a melee bleed build and see what happens but I have no high hopes when I think about the need to have int, vit and dex to get the most out of it.
They have tons of mitigation for Dots and Leech or Regen after that makes you immune to Dots. Literally immune! Your HP wonât move from Dot damage.
I completely disagree because of math. It makes you way tankier by seperating incoming damage into your different layers of mitigation giving you higher EHP.
Sure they are thatâs why you take the travel node before it Corrupted form. The Lich I have in the build planner has 6.8k life which takes average of gear not actual. So wouldnât be suprised to see Lichâs with 8k max HP in end game min/maxed gear that are really HP stacking.
You will be endurance capped as well with 2-3k endurance threshold with that HP.
Your assessment just isnât correct. Itâs really strong by separating incoming damage to different layers so you are immune to Dots and become insanely tanky. The key is obviously Corrupted form which is why itâs a travel node so ânoobsâ donât miss it.
Then you take Accursed feast and since your HP canât go too 66%, leech itâs constantly working. Then your other DR, Armor, Endurance and defensives are just way way stronger.
Imagine a Lich with Red ring, Mantle and corrupted form with 2k+ endurance and their ward isnât erroded by Dots. Throw in a shield in some builds as well and just super tank.
This type of set up allows you to always have your full EHP ready for 1 shots making it way less likely to die from any one attack. We didnât even talk about spectral wounds either delaying hits over 4 secs.
Overleech is already working just with Corrupted Form, you donât need Accursed Feast.
With Accursd Feast Facetanking is even easier, but your leech will also run out after 1,875 seconds already instead of the usual 3 seconds. If you are not a DoT build that does damage while moving or doing mechanics that is quite dangerous.
