Suggestion: Minions should snap to [ player position / nearby player / on screen ] instantly if a certain distance away, or if a player teleports.
TL;DR: Golems lagging 4+ screens behind character means you have to resummon or wait and facetank enemies until it catches up, and the hefty mana cost makes resummoning every 4 screens prohibitive. It feels clunky to have the golem 4+ screens behind. This feels especially bad when the companion AI gets stuck on a rock or door, forcing resummon/rebuff minion.
I tried making a golem build. Everything was going great until I started getting my ms boots and using transplant. While I understand golem ms is meant to be a choice in the trees, my interpretation of that design space was it travelling from pack to pack, or getting to a boss faster in a arena fight if the boss teleported around. That makes sense. When it gets stuck on a zone transfer, or a rock, or a tree or door, this feels even worse. I specc’d in to threat for my golems, but that feels like wasted points when they stick far behind. I feel penalized for playing a minion build, it ruins the experience, and breaks the fantasy and immersion. Please don’t make me feel like i’m doing an escort quest just because I like golems.
EDIT: Also why does the companion target an offscreen enemy from the direction I came from instead of the archer right next to me?
