I had Smite mapped on my right-mouse button but during the Lagon fight, I was unable to use it. It worked ok during the fight with Liath and also during the tentacle phase. Did not notice if my Javelin Banner was proccing Smite as I was too busy trying to survive lol.

If you are using direct cast smite, you need to Aim toward the back of his head.
(It sucks that you have to know the trick, but at least there is a way – Static cant even hit him :D)
Not gonna flag this as solution unless I trigger another Lagon fight. Good to always be learning more about range attacks though. First about how to aim with bow, now this.
