Make the exalted T6/T7 affixes a guaranteed imprint and the other affixes random. If there are multiple exalted affixes with LP 1, first choose at random one of these, then the others.
The whole process already requires to have an exalted item and I never understood why the exalted affix is not guaranteed then. This would especially improve upgrading items with low LP1 or LP2 slots.
For the perfect LP3/4 Legendary you’d still need to find/craft the perfect exalted item but at least you can improve your low LP gear a bit while you hope that one day a LP3/4 version of that unique will drop.
What if the item has 3 good T5 affixes that would help your build a lot and the exalted affix is one that wouldn’t help as much? The item being exalted means you have a chance of getting one of those good T5 affixes on your LP1 item.
Of course good T6 or T7 affixes would help your character more, but you might be okay with +2 to X skill instead of T7 stun avoidance.
I mean, the answer to that is don’t bring an item that has an exalted mod you don’t want. You aren’t forced to do Julra on a timer, so it can wait until you have a thing you want.
As for the OP, not a terrible idea. Not sure if they’d want it working that way, but I don’t dislike it like a lot of other suggestions
