I’ve been building around mana guide and harbinger of stars and the build relies on triggering / casting indirectly basically everything one way or another. While trying to build the character, I’ve noticed that some passives and skill nodes needs to be tested thoroughly before I can confirm whether it works or not when triggered. I cannot reliably figure this out from the skill text.
Please keep in mind my testing methods are basically me staring at my mana bar or buff indicators or other character stats to see if there are any noticeable changes, so there can be errors. Perhaps some of the stuff I tried just weren’t noticeable but did work correctly after all. The point I’m trying to make here is that the explanations of the skills lack clear, consistent and correct information whether the skill node or passive works when cast / triggered by other means than directly by yourself.
Here are couple examples
meteor aftermath skill node says “after you cast meteor you recover a portion of the mana spent”
this does not seem to work when the meteor is cast by the belt. This would be fine if the wording between different skills would be consistent and you could trust that skills that state “you cast” does not work when triggered.
Here is another example. Lightning blast lightning attunement skill node text says: When you cast lightning blast you have a chance to be granted lightning aegis.
This would lead me to believe this node does not function if I use mana guide (or static) to trigger the lightning blast, but it does work.
Another example. Lightning blast Effluent defense skill node: Casting lightning blast grants you ward per mana spent
this does not work. Here the text doesn’t say “you cast” or “cast directly”. I would have assumed from the skill texts that effluent defense would work when triggered and the Lightning attunement would not.
There are well explained skill nodes too: Lightning blast Overcharge clearly says “Lightning blast cannot double cast if it is channeled or cast by another skill”. I think every skill or passive should have clear statement like this.
