Was watching the Town Portal Podcast, and Judd was talking about skill MTX and wanting to make more for minion skills (even though it takes more effort with all the different animations and rigging- my words, not his), and my immediate thought was, “oh yeah, it’d be neat to have different skins for skeletons, that would turn them all into zombies, or maybe fully fleshed “human” mercenaries, or what about PIRATES!!!” (à la Pirates of the Caribbean) Especially if the archers could get little pistols or muskets.
On a slightly unrelated note, I hope that in the future they consider adding skill MTX options that are available for conversions of the skill, so if I wanted to play for example, Void Knight using Smite, and I’ve done the conversion and have all the mechanics of Smite doing Void damage, but for whatever reason I just prefer having Smite be gold colored instead of the purple, I can choose to “unconvert” the skill visuals back to the baseline, or vice versa, I could choose to play a Paladin with purple Smites. I think options for conversions of skills within the game should just be available, so that players can customize how they want their gameplay to look, even if they enjoy the mechanics of a class/build that changes a skill’s visuals. Another example for me specifically is Storm Crows. I often play builds that convert them to cold for mechanical bonuses, but I prefer the way the lightning attacks look.
