At the moment you only need to sign in to confirm your legal copy of the game. Once logged in you do not need to be online unless you need chat…
There are quite a few discussions on this specific issue - I think someone else in your exact situation (at sea) asked the same question last year… The devs havent specifically responded, but as far as I am aware, the intention is to provide a full offline eventually (probably with cached credentials I would assume) but only the devs will be able to respond officially…
You might want to sent them Submit a request – Last Epoch Support to get an official answer…
