In the UI - as far as i know - we only get an “Estimated damage per second” for any given skill in its current form (popup when hovering skill in skill-bar or skills-menu). “Alt” for more information adds how much this is impacted by our relevant stat(s).
Now i am in the situation where i am proccing detonating arrow via explosive trap. Because of that the dps value is already problematic since it takes into account a speed stat, that does not actually imact my characters performance. Then there is a skill conversion (melee instead of bow) which throws off the dps calculation further. Comparing the impact of different item choices to my characters damage output is currently very hard because of that. If i could see a “damage per hit” number and/or the skills base damage (so i can do the math myself), i would get alot more out of this skill info.
A re-worked character screen has been in the works for the past few years, but it kept on getting trumped by more important things like MP & 1.0. It’s phenomenally frustrating when you’re a numbers person & you’ve had a mock up teased years ago…
I remember hearing Mike say during a stream that being able to very accurately determine certain skill DPS just by checking the tooltip is something they had no intentions to ever implement. Don’t know how they stand on it as of now…
Don’t know what’s wrong with it that no one wants to give us this… Same thing in PoE, even after 10 years of asking for this, they never implemented it properly… at least we have PoB there.
