I don’t have the patience or mechanical skill to keep up with him

Isn’t this what time and commitment overcomes? maybe I got something wrong because english istn’t my native lanuage.

Okay… everyone is able to perform as good or bad inside his or her possibilitys. There are players that are far better then me but if said players only play 5h a week and I play 100h a week I have the chance to achive a higher Arena rank if I’m lucky for one time finaly get the problem sorted out or getting faster in my reactions because I know what lies ahead of me. If I just take a stroll and don’t care I’m not commited, if I’m only able to play 2h a week I have no time.

Even playing as long to reach arena stage 200 is a nogo for me because I’m bored to death with it sooner or later.

In my opinion when you are in a competitive scene which is what leaderboards are pushing, the best part of that is when you are competing with players who have access to doing the same thing you do, but you do it better.

In my oppinion this is only done when you play on an even field. Take D3 grifts for example. A friend of mine bragged arround with his success so I asked him how many attempts they did to achive what they’ve achived. Skipping hundrets of grifts because the enemys are “bad” and the pylon spawns were misrebel… That’s no achivement for me but “Spin the wheel” untill it’s fool proof. Achiving high grifts comes down to skill sooner or later but having one grift more because of randomness is a nogo for me.
Same goes for every competition that involves differences in each ones approach. When I played Arena and intentionaly getting me killed to see if I have the same maps and enemys again I was instantly out because everything changed so there is no even playing field and you maybe overcome the scoreof a player who has more skill then you if you simply get more suiteable enemys.

Everything boils down to a certain meta sooner or later but I think it isn’t helpfull to serve it to people with a few clicks. Even if you look at written guides or videos you get more information and a better way to understand things… to edjucate yourself while you building something different. In my eyes this is a better approach then letting people click through stuff and copy it while there are no notes to follow because a lot of people don’t get all interactions and have no respect for the skill involved and cry everywhere, leave frustrated reviews and so on and so forth.

Maybe I had a tough time in the past but originaly the above happend a loooot.

Yeah hard work can get you anything you want with limitations. Hence why there is a massive separation between pros and legit athletes etc. Some people are just born to exceed others and pick up things faster; it’s a part of life.

That is fine. Allowing showing of gear doesn’t hinder this experience at all. You can view “what is competitive” to you in any way you want to motivate yourself.

I think your whole argument rides on the fact that arena is only a investment and therefore viewing gear would give someone an unfair advantage, where I believe that when the flood gates open, that wouldn’t just be the case. If you get everyone playing the same class and same build you will have a mechanical skill divide in the ranking system just like any other competitive mode. I don’t see this as being unhealthy but actually the core of what competition is.

What is leaderboards at the end of the day? You proving you can get x build with y gear to z ranking yourself? Why would other people playing the same build hinder your experience? Isn’t that the whole point of the the leaderboard system to begin with: to see who can push a build the furthest for bragging rights?

Nope leaderboards are there to be nr 1 by all means. Bragging rights are for epeen dudetts. But on a more serious note I think it’s time to agree or diagree or our dialog will fill the next pages without alot of other peoples input ;).
Oh btw if this profile thing is lafdder only I’m okay with it and stay away from it like the plague as long as it infests no other game regions.
