Should Arcane Ascendance count as a lightning skill?

I’m currently playing a fire and ignite build and I noticed towards the end of the Sorcerer passives, the two nodes, Dragon Mage and Dragon Breath let’s you utilize using a different elemental skill to buff a different one and if you then take the next node they’re connected to, you can switch around which element triggers which bonus. In the case of my build, that would mean I’d benefit from the Dragon nodes if I used a lightning skill recently.

I’d have thought it would create an interesting utility combination taking the Acuity node on Arcane Ascendance, making it a shorter cooldown and able to rapidly proc and keep up the Dragon nodes buffs. A discovery was made.

I was surprised to find that Arcane Ascendance didn’t carry the Lightning skill tag, despite dealing lightning damage around you during the effect. While I haven’t tested it yet, I imagine taking the Superconductor node, that casts Lightning Blast for you, will proc this effect. I just don’t see why Arcane Ascendance shouldn’t be a Lightning skill by itself already. It’s somewhat unintuitive, it deals lightning damage and has the lightning icon (greyed out) besides it on the skill screen, so you might be fooled into thinking it would be one. Even now I’m unsure if this is a bug or mistake, if it might count as a lightning skill despite not having the tag somehow. In either case it might need clarification that is does not count as a lightning skill, if it isn’t.
