Shield Throw + Aegis node

Sheild Throw’s Aegis node stats that Shield Throw will target & chain between allies. Given that the player is counted as an ally, why does it not therefore ricochet between the player & single targets (eg, bosses, training dummy/etc)?

if you were an ally to yourself there’d be 2 of you and put simply… there is not 2 of you.

But I thought that all “ally” effects from the player (as against ally effects from minions) also affected the player? If that is the case then the shield should ricochet off the player as well.

Seems you are no ally to yourself. But in the other hand the weapons of forge strike, the shields of ring if shields and the manifest armor count as allies.

Is there a list of ally effects? I’d like to do some testing.

When your shield throw procs smite and smite procs lightning strike do you shock yourself while healing yourself all while being blind?

I’d forgotten about the shields in ring of shields counting as minions. So I’ve tried the Aegis node & it feels like when selecting targets ST will give equal weight to allies & mobs, and it prioritises nearer allies (ring of shields) to futher away mobs (even when the mob is still in it’s ricochet range). I think it’s still a net gain against bosses that don’t have adds if you have the Eruption node (more so if you have some points in Forceful Breaking for increased AoE), but it might be a dps loss against mobs that aren’t in melee range as ST often targets your ring of shields over mobs that aren’t adjacent to you.

Could I therefore suggest that ST give more weight to targetting a mob than an ally (say 2:1)?

I am really having fun with the forge strike weapons and the whirl attack of the manifested armor when he is hit by the shield. Because when the manifested armor is active the weapons and also the ring of shields perform a whirl attack when hit. So I hammer my forge strike on a group of enemies, generating 10-15 weapons an fire my shield into them an the mobs. Everything on the screen starts whirling and exploding.

I fear that the whirl attack also applies the other allies instead of only to the manifest armor is not intended. I asked here on the forums some time ago but did not get an answer. But I swear: Its really cool :crossed_fingers::grin:
