Hey guys!
As of today, I discovered an issue with the Sentinel ability “Shield Rush.” It’s used as a movement ability and in the past, I’ve been able to cancel its cast by recasting it (it’s mapped to my RMB.)
Now, however, if I attempt to recast the ability by pressing RMB, you can see the impact zone of the AOE (small red circle) and your character will continue charging. The impact zone, from what I theorize, is where the game engine updates your current position. What this means is that even though visually your character might be moving, mobs will gather and attack the engine’s updated player position. This has led to me, on multiple occasions, dying to mobs who were a quarter-way of the map away from me. I’ve recorded my gameplay with OBS to highlight this and I’ve had 100% success when duplicating this bug, even after restarting multiple times.
As you can see in the first video uploaded, the red circle appears in the middle of the map. However, my character still charges without collision to the edge of the End of Time area. Only on pressing LMB (movement) does my character position actually update and rubber-band me back to the AOE’s location. However, there is a time delay before LMB will even do this. In this example, I was only able to rubber-band back after a few seconds.
In the second video uploaded, I am in a Rift Echo and use Shield Rush to get to the objective. I decide to stop and attempt to clear a pack of mobs by recasting the ability (RMB.) You will see my AOE appear near the enemies. However, my character will continue to run and take damage even though visually it is nowhere near them. This has led to me dying in Rift Echoes on NUMEROUS occasions, at one point making me log off for a few hours.
What this means now, demonstrated in the third and final video, is that the only real reliable ways of canceling Shield Rush’s cast are by using A.) Casting another skill in the middle of the ability’s movement or B.) Waiting until Shield Rush physically collides with an object or gets automatically canceled. There is also another way of shortening the window of between pressing RMB on accident to cancel the skill and using LMB (Movement) to update your position. By casting another skill in the middle of the movement, your charge will stop, allowing you to move with no delay and become rubber-banded back into the AOE position.
I hope this helps any Sentinel players/the Dev Team.
