Shards overflow

Just started a new character to have a quick look at the new stuff, and I am really surprised by the quantities. Maybe it is a side effect of the event, I don’t know, but at the moment it simply feels too much.
I am talking specifically about two things:

The lizards.
They are everywhere! Most games have loot goblins of some sort, this is usually a fun and pleasant surprise to meet one. Here, I get some in every single map, usually more than one (I had 3 on the same screen once). That doesn’t feel right. The surprise is becoming killing a pack WITHOUT a lizard in the middle.
I don’t care about the gold, I play SCF so I don’t need stash tabs, but they drop a lot of idols and crafting materials! Your average Joe-lizard drops easily 12 shards, often more. For reference, a campaign boss drops on average 2-3. Again, it feels unbalanced.

The nemesis.
The other new kid on the block (new to me). Again, I wasn’t expecting to find one in almost every map. Not quite all of them, but way over 50% so far, and I didn’t explore the maps fully.
That’s a huge amount of uniques for someone who wants to stockpile.
As for their loot, I banish the vast majotity (again, SCF, I don’t need items for alts), but when I empower one, it drops crafting materials. A lot, about the same as the lizards.

I just killed the abomination in Welryn. Level 22, early chapter 3, with not many nemesis killed: I have 206 shards, 36 runes, 46 glyphs.
This is simply way too much.

Suggestion: make the lizards a lot less common, it will be more exciting to meet them. Reduce the amount of crafting materials by about 2/3 for both lizards and nemesis, and make the nemesis only drop them in their final stage, not when empowering.

I disagree, I like getting shards from the lizards, it feels like they’re a good source, especiallyearly on. I also don’t see so many lizards that I’m surprised if a pack doesn’t have one, am I not doing high enough corruption?

No corruption whatsoever, I am in the early campaign.
Every pack might have been a tad hyperbolic, but I see an average of 2-3 lizards in each and every map. With a dozen shards each, that’s craft-power-creep of the highest level.

That’s actually precisely my point: this is a very noticeable problem early on, probably not in endgame. I appreciate and respect that other people can have different views.
I am sure lizards and nemesis become small potatoes later on, but to me, so many shards and runes and uniques so early in the campaign (along with, as mentioned in another thread, super strong shrines early on) make the levelling experience far too easy, and lessen a lot the challenge/pleasure of finding the first shards and some useful items.
Why would I even bother looking at the affixes and shattering some? My forge is overflowed with materials already, after two chapters.
I realise making the campaign easier and easier, and focusing solely on endgame, is a request by many players, and my vision probably belongs to a very tiny minority.

Well, I have 10k affix shards already. Only 4 “fire penetration”, though, the ones I need atm.
That’s the reason I bothered setting up a lootfilter rule specifically for shattering this affix, with only one condition in it.

I don’t but then I’m not doing full clears, I’m mostly just running from point to point.

Im not sure I’d call it power creep. At best it allows more chances to get the rare class-specific shards rather than possibly going 40 or 50 levels before seeing one (for realz).

Then you are exceptionally lucky 'cause mine isn’t & my character’s doing the second mono. There are still some class-specific affixes that I don’t have any (for the class I’m playing). So my experience has been vastly different. Do you play in a group perchance?
