Yesterday i was trying to find a Shade of Orobyss and i ended up farming 1k stability without an echo to fight a Shade on the horizon. I guess there could be a point after you reach a certain stability level in which you see an echo no matter so that it gives people a chance to fight it instead of clearing a monolith further than the entire story questline. Shades possess a pretty useful set of items that affect and improve a lot of builds and that’s why I’m creating this topic. Have a nice day everyone!
I’m confused. What’s the problem with having stability? If anything, that’s a good thing. Fight the boss and get stacks so that when you do fight the shade you get more corruption.
Which is why they’re not as common. They have (potentially) better items than monolith bosses, so they’re rarer.
There is no problem, it’s just that after getting 2 gazes of Orobyss and completing echos I haven’t seen a single echo of a world which makes me wonder if there is a certain requirement for that echo to spawn.
I completely understand the rarity difference between shades and mono bosses my “problem” is that i don’t know if the echo spawns after certain requirements are met or randomly which is why i was wondering if i can somehow reduce that randomness percent through information.
The echoes will spawn close to the “edge” of the web. So if you want to see more of them, keep going in a straight line.
So there is no certain requirement for me to reach a shade just complete echos in a straight line until i see one?
I tried watching videos and most had like 8+ gazes and i didn’t know if i had to farm 8-9 gazes or just kill it with a single one.
Thank you for your info my friend.
Case closed!
Yeah, there’s no requirement, they just show up more the further you move out from the center.
Glad to help.
Today spawned world echo two steps away from start point, this is crazy. Cleared it and now on ~10 echoes away and nothing. Damn this is so random.
This part is not random… You probably did the corruption catch up mechanic, which is the only way you can get a Shade to spawn so close to the starting point.
If your highest corruption is 40+ higher than the current one you’re doing, then a Shade will spawn right after you complete the next echo, and it will give you extra corruption, so you can catch up quickly to the highest corruption you’re used to grind in.
There is a new woven echo type called confluence of oblivion, where you fight multiple versions of the Shade that you can slot anywhere on the timeline as well as have a chance for it to randomly spawn in your web through the weaver’s tree upgrade that spawns random woven echos. also if you are solely interested in fighting the shade for their loot there is a node specifically for that in the weaver’s tree where you get a chance for the shade to invade your echo like a random boss encounter (à la butcher from Diablo 4) and it has a chance to drop the full loot table of the shade.
so for faster harbinger kills just push one timeline to 300 and then one time oryboss on each. Without annoying “I can’t find oro node”.
Yes. For boss/harbinger farming it’s been a tactic since this was introduced. Since Shade gives more stability than regular echoes, you can farm the boss/harbinger by going to a lower corruption monolith, do an echo, do the catchup shade, do the corruption lowering echo, do another echo, another shade, etc.
It doesn’t work for shade farming though. Even at higher corruptions, shade never seems to drop the level restricted uniques in this echo.
